The Bonita Blues Charitable Foundation is dedicated to helping those in our community that need assistance during these challenging times. The proceeds from the 2010 Bonita Blues Festival were donated to the Bonita Springs Assistance Office and to the Music for Minors Foundation. The resources of the assistance office have been severely stretched the past couple of years and we are thrilled to be able to help out. Music for Minors was able to provide fourteen extra high-quality musical instruments to kids in Lee County, kids that would otherwise not have access to the wonderful world of music. Music students consistently perform better in school and learn important social interaction skills as part of an ensemble. The Board extends a heartfelt thank-you to our advertisers, sponsors and donors – you are making a real difference in people’s lives.
We have once again selected the Bonita Springs Assistance Office and Music For Minors as our charitiesin 2011. Since it's founding in 1979, the Bonita Springs Assistance Office has been recognized as the primary social service agency in our area. The Bonita Springs Assistance Office believes in providing a "hand up" and not a "hand out." The assistance office helps clients locate jobs and become productive members of our community. They also specialize in working with the elderly and families with young children. All donations remain in our area to benefit residents in crisis. Over the years, these emergency programs have helped thousands get back on their feet. See www.bonitaassistance.org for a list of services provided.
We wish we could share the joy and excitement we saw on the children’s faces when they received their new instruments at a special ceremony in June. It was priceless. Those students that practice, stay out of trouble and perform well in school for four years get to keep their instruments…. no charge. We expanded the festival in 2010 to include Friday night to bring more fun and entertainment. Once again the festival will include Friday evening and all day Saturday. Please consider sponsoring or donating to our fifth annual event so we can make this the most successful Bonita Blues Festival yet.
